Family Portrait Month gives you an opportunity to build business profits and goodwill through a high-profile, charity-driven promotion. The event is sponsored by PPA Charities for the benefit of Operation Smile, which treats children around the world who suffer with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities.
How Will My Studio Benefit from Family Portrait Month?

With Family Portrait Month, you are able to make a verifiable difference in the lives of needy children. This is possible because PPA Charities combines your studio’s donations from Family Portrait Month with those of other studios throughout the country, increasing your charitable power.
For example: Since the beginning of Family Portrait Month in 2005, participating photographers have made it possible for almost 500 children to receive basic surgeries that will forever change their lives and the lives of their families.
And there are even more benefits to participating in Family Portrait Month this year:
- Any studio that collects $500 or more for Operation Smile in 2008 is eligible for a cash drawing of $500 (at the PPA Charities 2009 Celebration Event on January 10, 2009, at the Imaging USA convention in Phoenix, Arizona).
- The 2008 top studio fund-raiser will receive a trip to photograph an Operation Smile medical mission (also announced at the PPA Charities 2009 Celebration Event at Imaging USA 2009).
Important Note: To be eligible for the cash drawing and the Operation Smile mission, your donations must be received by December 1, 2008.

Every donation to Operation Smile makes it possible for another surgery to be performed by Operation Smile’s volunteers.
To date, PPA Charities’ donations to Operation Smile have totaled nearly $115,000. That translates into hundreds of operations made possible because photographers did what they do best: create images for families to treasure.
