In Memory: Leonard (Len) Levy

One of the true giants in our profession has passed away, Leonard (Len) Levy, a gentleman in every sense of the word.

Len has educated hundreds of photographers during his life. Teaching the Basic course at NEIPP, for over 38 years, has earned him the title "Mr. NEIPP". He enjoyed working with new photographers coming into the profession, along with some very seasoned ones also. His "true stories" will be remembered by everyone he taught. Len created the foundation on which so many have prospered, and he will be missed by everyone who had the extreme pleasure of knowing him. NEIPP will not be the same without him.

His funeral will be held on Thursday February 28th. At 11:00 AM from the Stanetsky - Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin Street, Salem, MA. Followed by intermemt in Maple Hill Cemetery, Peabody, Memorial observance will be held at his late residence on Thursday, Friday until sundown, and on Saturday evening. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Len's memory to the PPANE scholarship Fund c/o Roland Laramie P. O. Box 316, Willimantic, CT 06226

PPA Announces the Imaging Excellence Bar

To honor a rare accomplishment in PPA competitions, the PPA Board has approved the Imaging Excellence Bar (IE Bar). This bar is only received if an image maker is able to earn an additional 13 Loan Merits from PPA…on top of the first 13 required for the Imaging Excellence Award. The IE Bar will be presented for every 13 additional Loan Merits earned.

The original Imaging Excellence Award was created by the Photographic Exhibitions Committee (PEC), honoring the outstanding image makers who earn 13 Loan Merits and have one or more PPA Master Degrees. This award, presented during the Imaging USA Awards & Degree Ceremony, provides an opportunity for competitors to reach a higher level…beyond their Master Degrees. And now, those who exhibit an even greater skill in photographic competition are recognized with this IE Bar.
