City Magazine Seeks Cover Shot for Fall 2007 Travel Issue

CITY Launches International Photo Competition;
Grand Prize Winner’s Photo Will Be October 2007 Issue Cover Shot

CITY Magazine announces the launch of ONE CITY, MANY DESTINATIONS™, a travel photography competition with the ultimate grand prize: CITY Magazine’s cover shot. 

CITY: The Destination for Style (www.city-magazine.com) is a lifestyle publication hailed internationally for its cutting-edge photography and editorial coverage.   

Amateur and professional photographers from around the world are invited to submit digital images for juried competition and a chance at landing on the cover of CITY’s Fall ’07 Travel issue, on sale September 25, 2007. Photographers are asked to pick one image that best captures the essence of a city. Entrants may submit as many images as they wish, as long as each represents a different city or travel destination.  The deadline for entries is June 30, 2007.

2007 International Print Competition

Rules for the 2007 PPA International Print Competition are now available for download at http://competitions.ppa.com. Along with the new rules this year, PPA has also moved to a paperless entry form. Beginning in April, competition entrants will be able to go online to complete their entry forms and pay their entry fees. The new electronic system is intended to speed up the entry process,  reduce data entry errors and save money.

PPA members have until June 8 to submit their entries for this year's judging which will be held July 22-25, in Daytona Beach Florida. Late entries will be accepted with an additional fee until June 29.

Commercial Photography's P3 Image Competition Winners on Display for the First Time

Along with great programs, speakers, and tradeshow products, the 2007 Commercial Photography Conference, hosted by the Commercial Photographers International (CPI), will showcase the winning images from CPI’s inaugural P3 Image Competition. CPI’s conference runs from January 13-14, but the P3 images will be on view during the entire three-day Imaging Expo, one of the photo industry’s largest trade shows, until January 16, 2007. And it is all found in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Over 200 images were submitted to CPI’s P3 Image Competition, from which a panel of five esteemed judges selected the images that would comprise the 2006 Awards. Winners include the following: Craig Minielly as CPI P3 Photographer of the Year, Ian Aleksander Adams for the Best in People Category and the Honorable Mention in the Products Category, Lou Russo for the Best in Places Category, Jeffrey Jacobs for the Honorable Mention in Places Category, and Jim DiVitale for the Best in Products Category.

PPA's Affiliate Communications Competition

PPA's Affiliate Communications Competition is designed to encourage excellence in affiliate publications (newsletters and websites) and to recognize the individuals who spend their time and energy editing, designing, and maintaining these publications to keep members informed.

2006 AN-NE COMPETITION RESULTS

PPA’s AN-NE Awards competition is the premier program for recognizing outstanding marketing efforts in professional photography. This year’s entries were remarkable, and the panel of four judges, all professionals in the marketing and communications arena, had to carefully evaluate each piece and score them based on how well they met the criteria in each category.

AN-NE winners will receive one year of FREE PPA MEMBERSHIP and will be recognized during the awards ceremony at Imaging USA 2007, January 14-16 in San Antonio, Texas. In addition, all winners and finalists will be displayed at Imaging USA 2007. And be sure to watch for AN-NE features and in-depth case studies, which can be found in Professional Photographer magazine over the course of 2007.

CPI Announces Inaugural P3 Image Competition

Commercial Photographers International (CPI) today announced  the launch of a new photography competition for commercial photographers.  Dubbed P3 for the categories, people, products and places, the competition  seeks excellent commercial images from both professional and amateur  photographers.

“We are very excited about this  competition. It is the first one that CPI has sponsored, and we want to provide  a place for commercial photographers, established and emerging, to promote  their work to actual art buyers, not to stock agencies,” says Michelle Hatch,  association manager.

Judges for the competition include: Joan  Sherwood, technology editor for Professional  Photographer magazine (www.ppmag.com), Dan Tanenbaum, owner of Portfolios.com  (www.portfolios.com) and Gene Hwang, photographer  and owner of Orange Exposure (www.orangephotography.com).

Winning images from the competition will be  on display this January at the Commercial Photography Conference in San  Antonio, Texas. They will also receive recognition in Professional Photographer magazine and on CPI’s website, www.MyCPI.com.  In addition, $1,400 in cash prizes will be awarded to the “P3 Photographer of  the Year” and the “Best of Category” winners.

Countdown Begins for O'Reilly's 2006 Photoshop Cook-Off

International Print Competition Results

The results of the PPA's 115th annual International Print Competition are in and 2,748 images have been accepted for display at Imaging USA in San Antonio, Texas. Last week, forty judges gathered in  Daytona Beach to review nearly 5,000 images submitted by professional photographers from around the world. After selecting the images for the exhibition, the judges reviewed the images a second time and designated 653 of the images to recieve the prestigious Loan Collection designation. In addition to being exhibited at Imaging USA, images accepted into the Loan Collection are also published annually in PPA's Loan Collection book.
